Eating Out

If you haven’t seen the giant ice cream cone that appeared recently on Hwy 192 near Avalon Rd, yes, we now have another Twistee Treat in the area. I can attest it’s very popular by the lines of customers outside it every night.

And looks like a Shula Burger will be opening soon in the Rolling Oaks Plaza in a restaurant space that was previously a wine bar. If the name sounds familiar it might be because this is a spin-off from the Shula Steakhouse chain. But Shula Burger is decidedly fast food, not a steakhouse type of dining experience.

August Is…

  • Admit You’re Happy Month
  • Family Fun Month
  • National Eye Exam Month
  • Romance Awareness Month
  • National Picnic Month

…among others.

School Starting

Lake county schools start Monday, August 19th. View the student calendar for a schedule of the entire 2013-2014 year.

With school starting that means school buses on the roads and school zones active in the morning and afternoon. Please drive carefully.

Recipes

This recipe is great for a summer cookout. I saw it in a magazine recently and tried it. It was great and very easy to make.

Bacon-Wrapped Corn

  1. Wrap a raw ear of corn with two strips of bacon
  2. Wrap the ear in foil
  3. Grill on medium-high heat for 15 minutes, turning once during cooking

Have a favorite recipe? Please email it to WestonHillsHOA@gmail.com and I’ll put it in a future posting. If you can include any history about where you found the recipe or why it’s a favorite of yours that would make it even better.

Under Construction

If you like to visit DownTown Disney for a movie, dining, or shopping you’ll want to know that this week construction began on a large refurbishment project which will include a parking structure to alleviate the parking headaches that happen often there on busy evenings. Finding parking may be tougher for the next few years as things are rebuilt. You can check out pictures of the old Pleasure Island area currently as they begin to turn it into Disney Springs.
