Good morning all, what I’d like to do this morning is address several topics that may be of interest to you.
First of all US Congressman Daniel Webster who’s district serve’s Lake County will be holding a Town Hall type meeting this Tuesday August 6, 2013, 1:30 pm at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg Chapel Building 220 N. 13th Street Leesburg, Florida. Congressman Webster invites all of you to attend and welcomes the opportunity to hear your thoughts and comments as he serves Central Florida. One topic of importance to all of us that Congressman Webster will be addressing is what he sees as government abuse. For further information regarding this meeting you can contact his Lake County Office at 352-383-3552.
Next I would like to re-remind everyone about the web site that you can access so that you can monitor what type and where crimes are taking place within Lake County. This is a very useful site in our attempt to keep the citizens of Lake County informed as to where, when, and types of crimes being committed. There is no cost to you to use this site however you would have to register to be able to access this site.
The next issue is one that I seem to always bring up!!!!! PLEASE ALWAYS LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS WHENEVER YOUR CAR IS LEFT UNATTENDED. Need I say anymore?
Lastly As any of you know who have attended one of my crime watch meetings when discussing drug related issues I advise you that it most cases if you report what you feel is suspected drug activity you more than likely will not see immediate results. I go on to advise how many of the drug investigations take place from start to finish, and that the time frame can be several months. I only bring this up due to the resent media reports regarding many arrests in Lake County of suspected street level drug dealers. The importance to all of you of what took place regarding these drug arrests is that this investigation took over seven months to bring it to a point that numerous arrests of street level dealers was accomplished. Sheriff Borders is committed to the citizens of Lake County in making it as safe a place to live, work, and raise your families as possible. We just want you to know that some investigations, drug investigations in particular may and usually do take more time then you may feel is necessary to complete.
Take care and be safe
